# Burning

Burning tokens can help the ecosystem by reducing overall token supply. Typically this is a selfless act as you receive nothing in return for doing so, but on the Hyperpool platform you receive points as a reward for burning any tokens. \
\
To burn tokens, simply enter the amount you wish to burn and click burn now. You will be able to see how many bonus points you will receive for burning that amount of tokens, depending on the current burn multiplier. You will be prompted to sign the burn transaction, and once you sign the transaction your tokens will be burned and your updated points balance will be reflected in the wallet overview.

Occasionally, Hyperpool may change the burn multiplier during a promotional event. Keep your ear to the ground, as these events can be lucrative!
